Daily Burn-yoga

I haven't used this site much, but I received an email about it and was curious. They have a Yoga session with Briohny Smyth also featuring her husband Dice Iiad-Klein in the first one. It looks like just over a weeks worth as well as a few other specific types of classes, such as handstands and inversions. If her name isn't familiar, she was the woman featured in the controversial Equinox videos (in her underwear) that went viral.

With that link you receive a free 30-day free trial and after that, it's $10 a month (Disclosure: I also receive a $10  bonus upon completion of the free trial). I'm going to follow the plan for a couple of weeks and will blog about how I feel and such throughout. I'm not very in depth with Yoga yet, but these sounded doable and something to look into.

Daily Burn also offers several other programs and trainers, such as a body weight program, a dance oriented one, and kettle bells. This is my first time trying these classes, so I'm not biased! I'm going to try them out, however, and see how they are and if I like it.

Facebook

I will be creating a Facebook page soon. I feel like that would probably be easier to get information, links, and any pictures, out. And then I will be linking posts back on here once I make them.

Petite Texan

I got rid of the mama part (for some reason it always bugged me) and after asking several friends what they thought, that is the name I'm going with for now! I will be updating the page soon with more information but for now it's a start.

Hello!

Sorry that I'm rather sporadic with this blog. Due to everyone being sick for a while and being back in school, as well as a trip, I've been busy but I have some posts coming up soon. I'm going to do reviews on my favorite products that have personally helped me on my health/fitness journey, as well as some application reviews that I like to use. Maybe throw in a playlist weekly as well.

Something else I'm considering doing is doing posts on mental health. Everyone eventually figures out that until you get your mental and emotional issues in line, there seem to be a lot of pieces missing in any journey. I'd like to talk a little about that! I have many friends who are Psychology PhD's who can help, as well as articles and sites I have found online and personally used.

The Generosity Experiment

Fitocracy

Fitocracy is a lot of fun, and useful, if you like video games and/or are competitive.

https://www.fitocracy.com/home/

They also have a phone app, which you can use like the website, to log workouts, get your points, and communicate with other members. You add friends, you can compete with other people, create workouts, and connect via forums. I haven't been using it as much lately due to injury, but it's a great site, especially if you lift, to keep up with weight used, and repetitions. You earn points, and level up as you enter in activities.

My username is verloren if anyone wants to add me!

This is their little mascot!

App reviews

Over the next few months, I'm going to do some app reviews, specifically for iPhone but I believe most of them will also be available on the Droid platform. The apps I plan on reviewing, and utilizing, will be among my favorites (and I'll throw in some not so favorites) that I currently use or have used in the past. I like to alternate my workouts, so often, I will delete apps off of my phone until I'm ready to use them again. Here are the apps I know of so far:

  • JEFIT
  • My Fitness Pal
  • Nike Training Club
  • Gym Boss
  • Map My Run
  • Runtastic
  • Map My Training
  • Nike Fuelband
  • Fitocracy
  • StrongLifts 5x5
  • Zombies Run
  • Fooducate
  • Lose it!
  • C25K
A couple of these I will be using for a month, or until certain completion dates, such as C25K. I'm not a runner, and trying to get back into it and thought, so many people have had success with these apps, why not try it!
