Esquire "What I've Learned" Quotes

Now, Esquire magazine isn't one I read, but I came across these quotes the other day and love them. It is based on a series of questions asked by Esquire, sort of a "first thought when I say..." and their responses are great!

The stupidest argument to have with somebody is when you tell them what to like. How can somebody argue with you about what you like? "I want hot sauce." "Hot sauce? How can you like hot sauce?" Hey, it's my mouth.

Sometimes when you're trying too hard to follow a rule, you're doing yourself more harm.

There's a line in the film: "When the power of love takes over the love of power, that's when things will change." And it's true.

Julia Child
People are uncertain because they don't have the self-confidence to make decisions.
I'm awfully sorry for people who are taken in by all of today's dietary mumbo jumbo. They are not getting any enjoyment out of their food.
Moderation. Small helpings. Sample a little bit of everything. These are the secrets of happiness and good health. You need to enjoy the good things in life, but you need not overindulge.
If you're in a good profession, it's hard to get bored, because you're never finished — there will always be work you haven't yet done.

Get Your Run on Hop

The lovelies at Runaway Bridal Planner and Fairy Tales and Fitness decided a runner based Bloghop was needed! I love this idea and had to join. It's my first bloghop! I am also a fairly new runner and have a bit of a love/hate relationship. I like to keep small notes, stickers, quotes and such around me to remind myself why I do certain thing. So I thought I'd share these with you in my giveaway! I had them made on RedBubble and love them! I have many different ones for myself on my planner, notebook, and bulletin board. I'm also including a pack or two of 4 different colored Post Its for the same reason; if you want a quote but want something not quite so permanent. I'm also including a pair of pink Lock Laces (if you win, and hate pink, I have lime green you can change it for). As well as a $10 Target gift card (not pictured). And knowing me, there will be a few other surprises thrown in! a Rafflecopter giveaway
Please make sure to visit the other bloggers in the hop!

Favorites at the moment

This is going to be insanely hard to do but here are some of my favorite things lately.

Favorite read of the moment:

I just finished reading Sheryl Sandberg's Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead. As a female working in a male dominated environment/company, I loved this book! My company does have a couple of female executives, which is rare for my industry, but I'd love to see more. This book made me want to get up and do more.

Song on repeat:

Rude by Magic has been on repeat on my Spotify list lately. While not the happiest song, it has a great beat and I've found it stuck in my head!

Athletic gear:

Old Navy Compression Pants have been my favorite for a while! I got to try them and receive a pair when I did the Pretty Muddy Mud Run for Fit Approach and bought two additional pairs. My favorite thing? They offer them in Petite, Regular, and Tall sizes and at 5'3, this makes me happy!

Adidas Ultimate Tee are my go to shirt on training days (or days I forget to shave...). I own three of these in black, grey, and purple. They are super comfy, don't ride up like crazy, and don't get bogged down my sweat.

An art book:

Lovely: Ladies of Animation. I actually backed their Kickstarter initially, and absolutely love the artwork of these ladies. I'm looking to purchase a few of their respective prints for my home soon.

Nail polish of the moment:

Rocky by Zoya!  I wear a lot of blue nail polish, it's kind of been my go to since I was a teenager, I just changed the range of colors I wear.

Foodie Friday

Now it's time for dinners we prepare at home.

This one was roasted butternut squash, asparagus, and baked tilapia.

Brown "fried" rice with mixed veggies, scallops and chicken!

Fajitas! We made chicken and steak and the veggies used were red/green bell peppers, zucchini, jalapenos and onions along with roasted corn salsa my boyfriend made. I made Mexican rice, and we had some more scallops.

We ate some on lettuce wraps, and some with corn tortillas.  This was one of our much heartier meals, typically these happen on Saturday or Sunday night when we have more time.

More seafood! Shrimp and scallops with roasted beets, and a kale salad with pepitas, slivered almonds, and cranberries.

Foodie Friday

My diet is usually my weakest point, but thanks to my boyfriend helping keep my butt in gear, it has gotten MUCH better. So with this post, I will give you some examples of meals I typically eat when I'm at work!

Inside my 6 Pack Bag-Camille tote! There will be another post on that. But I typically put all of my food for the day in here. The little orange container had a kale salad. Edamame below that.

My breakfasts have to be simple, as I usually eat as soon as I get to work (after getting my coffee and water). These oats are great and cook easily first thing in the morning. I keep a glass Pyrex bowl at work specifically for my oats. On the right, is Greek yogurt with strawberries, sometimes I slice up peaches instead.

Lunch one day. Spinach with lemon juice, topped with onions and fresh pineapples. Next to it, leftover steak with rice and black beans.

My own trail mix. Raw almonds, smoked almonds, pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries, and dried cherries. I keep this in my desk at work for mid-morning/afternoon snacks.

This is my Define Bottle that I purchased a while back. The kid that invented this was on Shark Tank a while back (apparently) and I really love this bottle. Keeps the fruit separated by the center filter piece, washes easily, and I can have non-boring water at work.
